Let me welcome all the Participants in the 3rd International Police Conference on Modernisation and Technological Development of Police Services as a Response to New Threats to Public Safety, the Exhibitors, Organisers and Visitors at the Europoltech 2007 International Fair of Technology and Equipment for the Police and National Security Services, which accompanies the Conference.
A number of necessary transformations have taken place in the Polish Police in recent years. A generation change has taken place. Police structures have been reorganised towards adjustment to new challenges in crime abatement. This year we have begun the implementation of a governmental programme for the modernisation of the Police and other services subordinate to the Minister of the Interior and Administration.
I am convinced that both the Conference and the Fair, which accompanies it, are an excellent reflection of the nature of these changes and that the Conference will prove to be an important international forum for the exchange of experience in employing technological progress in the improvement of the management systems and the operational effectiveness of the police services.
I consider it very beneficial and indeed necessary to discuss the latest police logistics management procedures and the problems of procedure transparency in the co-operation between the police services on the one hand and the equipment manufacturers and service providers on the other.
More than 200 companies from Poland and abroad are taking part in Europoltech 2007 to present advanced technology and equipment for the police services. This fact certainly helps the logistics services subordinate to the Minister of the Interior and Administration to make the most rational choice of equipment and optimise the cost of upgrading.
My best wishes to the Conference participants for successful discussions and the best new ideas for employing the latest technologies in effective crime abatement and the increase in the police and other officers’ personal safety.
I wish to invite the Exhibitors to play an active part in the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Brigade and Government Protection Bureau modernisation process and wish you success in meeting your expectations of the Europoltech 2007 Fair of Police Technology.
Let me also thank the Gdańsk International Fair Co. (MTG SA) for organising the event which is of key importance to the police services.
